ISP: Consolidated Communications (Fiber Optic Internet)
Connection: DHCP
Router: Netgear R6300v2
Issue: Internet disconnects every 30 minutes, for about 5 seconds, which is just long enough for me to disconnect from video game servers, or buffer on Netflix, etc. Problem has lasted for half a year.
What I've tried:
Static IP
Disabling DHCP
Google DNS
Issue does not occur while using a VPN, but I don't want to always use a VPN, because websites like Amazon blocks you from accessing them.
When I use a VPN my routing changes, and I don't use the same hops to get to my destination and if I recall correctly, my winMTR scans showed ~ 1% packet loss when using my internet without the VPN. However, with the VPN I had no packet loss.
A new router changes nothing, as I still disconnect every 30 minutes.
A different PC on game console changes nothing, as I again, still disconnect.
Yes I am hard wired.
I called Consolidated, and they informed me that they couldn't see anything wrong with my connection. They had a technician come out to my street and refresh the fiber line. Nothing changed.
Any help would be appreciated.
