Figured I'd start a new thread documenting our install process here in Milford NH. I had signed up on the web page for preorder and actually ordered service on the web but had not received any follow up from Consolidated. Since others posters here have had good luck talking to a rep directly I called Consolidated this morning and was able to order fiber internet. I signed up for 50/50 Mbps teaser rate for a year is $35 month plus $2.97 in fees. I asked what happens after the year, rep said currently full rate for the tier is $50 a month but it is likely there will be ongoing promotions but no guarantee.
Install is a two step process one tech does the outside plant cable install and the other sets up the internet gear. As of this post the outside plant install has not yet been scheduled however the activation tech is scheduled for Tuesday morning. Rep said we do not need to be home for first tech but I asked for an inside ONT as we have a combination of aerial and underground so I want to be here when they are doing the install. I was surprised how fast they scheduled the install. Guess they want to start generating revenue as soon as possible.
We talked about POTS landline, We currently have DSL/POTS through a CLEC. I want to use number portability to move our phone number back to Consolidated (had the same number since Verizon days 45-ish years. Rep suggested and I concur best to get fiber internet debugged and then order phone service. Phone service will be VoIP, rep didn't know if POTS phone line connected directly to the ONT or we need a VoIP box to the router. Quoted price for VoIP is $15 a month for $6-ish in magic fees.
We will see what happens - film at 11. :)
